Taijiquan/Tai Chi
Taijiquan:
In this video, Barbara demonstrates the start of the 19th form of taijiquan. In simple language, it demonstrates the first of an extended series of taijiquan movements, grouped into one of the ‘katas’. It is simple to follow and demonstrates excellent form and technique.
The course connected to this taijiquan presents extended instructions on form and movement detail, broken down move by move. For more information click below.
As with all practices on this website, you are actively encouraged to proceed with a gentle attitude toward the self. Be patient, and learn to associate ‘accomplishment’ with positive feelings and results. There is nothing to prove, and pushing yourself beyond physical comfort is not advised, but rather discouraged. Each of these is about developing not just a physical technique, but about advancing your own respectful relationship to self. Set your own limits from a place of love, patience, and self respect.
This video is the first of three videos in which Barbara teaches technique for developing the muscles and body-wisdom needed in order to develop true taijiquan form. It is a ‘warm up’ of sorts, but one specifically designed to advance taijiquan technique. The three videos here, titled ‘building blocks’, are core exercises that can advance the ability to complete forms, such as the form 19 demonstrated above.
This video is the second of three free videos in which Barbara teaches technique for developing the muscles and body-wisdom needed in order to develop true taijiquan form. It is a ‘warm up’ of sorts, but one specifically designed to advance taijiquan technique.
